For the added impact, throw on an oversized masculine white shirt (or grab one of your bae’s?) over the swimsuit. Nothing counts as more effortless than that! This outfit is perfect for all your planned Instagram activities on the beach (that moment is not very French, but oh well…).

Many in this set have perfectly mastered wardrobes that are elevated and no-fuss. As a result, we routinely highlight the items Parisian women wear, includingnew trends and fresh spring picks. Next up, we wanted to zero in on the fashionable basics French girls wear on the regular. The slip skirt–and-mules combo took root a few years ago, and French It girls like Mais have clearly taken to it. We predict that this outfit formula will continue to stand the test of time. It's comfortable, practical, and just dressy enough. You can now buy a slip skirt in every color, print, and fabric imaginable, and designers like BY FAR and Staud continue to pioneer the resurgence of open-toed mule sandals. Here is a great example of the classic French red lip.

A high-rise straight leg jean is worth the money because it looks great with your style basics, creates a long vertical line, and seamlessly fits into business casual or date night. These pieces will never go out of style. I need to add some of these to my closet. Outfit no.10 is a classic and chic outfit. With a simple long sleeve blouse that you can unbutton from one up to two buttons, then add a layered necklace to go for that chic look. Paired with ankle boots and slim-fit pants that can enhance your feminine silhouette.

I couldn’t resist the blue Birkenstock sandals (here’s a similar pair) with the olive skirt. I wanted to build my own neutral, standout outfit, and I wanted to work around this new Mara Hoffman midi skirt that I’m obsessed with. I was going with my son to practice opening his locker at middle school . The difference here is that we can tell she tried. Her hair is sleek, and she is in neutrals from head to toe.
Check out my 12 wardrobe essentials, here. Though these two are definitely American, it’s undeniably fun to dress up as members of Paris’s Lost Generation crew. Scott Fitzgerald, Gertrude Stein and Ernest Hemingway are two other options. Stein requires a matronly look, Zelda should be styled like a flapper, and the two men would have suits and slicked-back hair . Remember, one of the most important things about french style is the state of mind behind it–not caring too much, but still looking polished and put together. You don’t have to be exact with your style, but French girls always look polished and classy. There is nothing effortless or chic about squinting in the sun, or the perpetual furrowing of the brow when you can’t see. So remember a great functional final touch to any outfit is a classic pair of sunglasses. It looks fantastic under your blazers, or even worn as a shirt dress .

Notice the common phrase “simple” being used here.
The bag you pick should be a neutral leather or fabric, and have one “focal point”. So don’t go overly detailed or overly loud. A simple buckle or hardware piece is fine but avoid the overly decorated bags. Opt for jeans without distress marks or holes, and always keep a limited color palette.
